The House is OURS!!!
Moving Day |
In May of 2015, we signed a contract to purchase our present house in San Pedro Las Huertas, a small community outside of Antigua, Guatemala. We moved in October 26, 2015 with the help of a team from All Nations Church. We had been renting the house as we have been raising funds to cover the balance. Now, as of June of 2016, the house is all ours. In little more than a year, through the grace of God and the generosity of His people, we were able to raise the $170,000 needed to purchase the house. We stand amazed.
This house has proven to suit our ministry needs in almost every way. While the condominium struggles to accept our young men (there is still much discrimination against those in wheelchairs in Guatemala) the town itself has opened itself up to the guys and they thoroughly enjoy living here.
The house provides a home for our four full-time residents, as well as providing a center for services for those with special needs in our village of San Pedro. We have been richly blessed.
Thank you to all who have prayed and donated to make this dream a reality. Ours is truly the home that hope built!
I was young and now I am old
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.

A Forever Home
After months of looking at houses and land, two days before I left for my current trip to Omaha, the realtor I had been working with called. "I know you're busy, but you have to see this house. I think God built it for your guys!" So I made time, saw the house as they were still completing the finishing work inside, and believe we have found our new home.
The house is located in a secure. gated community in San Pedro las Huertas, about 2 miles outside Antigua where we are currently located. While part of a "condominium," this is the only house on the property with it's own private access to the street, a big plus as we begin having folks from the community come to see us. The lot size is 3000 sq. ft., with the house occupying 2000 sq. ft., all on a single level. There are five bedrooms and five bathrooms, kitchen, dining/living room, and sitting area, arranged in an open concept design--quite unusual to find in Guatemala, and perfect for accommodating wheelchairs. The design would allow us to house up to five men and three women in a single dwelling. (We currently have two young men wanting to join our community, and one, possibly two young women.) The asking price is a very reasonable $170,000 US. (This is quite a bargain, considering that a single lot in the area sells for $65,000, without any improvements.)
Below I am posting pictures of the house so you can get a better idea of what we are hoping to purchase.
I have tried to anticipate some of the questions you might have about why we need to do this. Click here for a link to our FAQ's of the Casa.
